Sawise Scholarships for African Women 2015 2016 •
The Association of South African Women in Science and Engineering (SAWISE) and the Hope Network is inviting applications for SAWISE scholarships for sub-Saharan women applicants. Two scholarships are offered which includes: SAWISE Hope Scholarship and SAWISE Angus Scholarship for pursuing 4th year [e.g. BSc (Honors) or equivalent] of study at tertiary level. The scholarship is tenable at South African universities.

Sawise Scholarships for African Women 2015/ 2016

These scholarships are awarded in any field of:
- science
- engineering, and
- medical.
Target Group:
Sawise Scholarships for African Women are available for Sub-Saharan black female and South African female student.
Eligibility:
To apply for the SAWISE Angus Scholarships, applicants must meet these criterias:
- A sub-Saharan black female.
- Must have achieved 70% or above grade average in her subject of study.
- Only for studies at Honours level (or 4th year equivalent e.g. in engineering).
- In any field of science and engineering.
To apply for the SAWISE Hope Scholarships, applicants must meet these criterias:
- Applicants must be female student of South African.
- Studies Honours degree/4th year of study with an academic average of over 65%,
- Pursuing study in the areas of science and engineering. Medical fields are also included.
- Applicants must exhibit outstanding personal qualities and a strong desire to make a contribution to their respective fields and to society at large.
- Preference will be given to a candidate experiencing financial difficulty or distress.
- Must be studying at one of following institutions: University of Cape Town, University of Pretoria, University of Stellenbosch, University of Johannesburg, University of KwaZulu-Natal, University of the Witwatersrand, and University of the Western Cape.
What does it cover:
The Value of the award is R10 000 p.a.
How to apply:
Applications of Sawise Scholarships for African Women should be send by post or by mail (address at link below). Applications must include copies of the following required documents:
- A certified copy of your ID.
- An official academic transcript (record).
- Curriculum vitae.
- A letter of motivation (~350 words).
- For the Angus Scholarship, a completed application form (available at link below).
If applicants haven’t been contacted by SAWISE by 20 December, they have unfortunately not been successful in their application.
